Established in 2019, the New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO) is a national not-for-profit organization that is playing a critical role helping to advance the establishment of a researcher-focused, accountable, agile, strategic, and sustainable Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) ecosystem for Canadian researchers. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has earmarked $375 million in funding to consolidate and revitalize the infrastructure and tools offered to researchers and will support activities in advanced research computing (ARC), research data management (RDM) and research software (RS), driving continued excellence in research across all disciplines. In what is a truly auspicious time for Canada’s science, innovation and economic future, NDRIO is seeking a Vice President, Communications and External Relations to develop and implement on a corporate communications strategy.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Communications and External Relations is accountable for the development and execution of an integrated communications and external relations plan that aligns with the guiding principles of NDRIO. The new VP, Communications and External Relations will forge mutually beneficial relationships with government partners, NDRIO Members, the post-secondary and researcher communities, key stakeholder groups and media. The VP, Communications and External Relations will advise the CEO on all matters related to communications, marketing and branding, and will lead the development and delivery of communications and marketing assets and experiences for the organization, across multiple channels.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a Master’s degree in communications, political science, journalism or business. A seasoned communicator, you bring a track record in delivering exceptional results within a complex stakeholder environment. Ideally, you have experience setting up a communications function for an organization and find meaningful ways to capture an audience and demonstrate value. You build cohesive, high-performing teams and have the capacity to influence and shape organizational positioning while managing competing priorities. You foster open, inclusive and collaborative work environments and champion diversity. Bilingualism is an asset for this role. NDRIO’s head office is based in Ottawa; however, the role can be located anywhere across Canada.
