Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Coordinator will support programmatic and administrative coordination of programs and systems with the Alliance Operations team, partner organizations, and stakeholders. The Coordinator serves as liaison and facilitator between DRI service providers and the research community, and directly collaborates with the community in support of the Alliance’s goals and objectives.


  • Support collaborations among the organization’s membership and the research community more generally to advance the Alliance’s mission in support of Canada’s researchers.
  • Ensure the Alliance maintains strong relationships and promotes research capacity building among partners such as institutions, DRI-serving organizations, and various other stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute meetings, maintain records, develop reports, and liaise with partner organizations to guarantee that the information provided is accurate and in compliance with by-laws and regulations.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date planning calendars and workplans with partner organizations outlining matters to be on the agenda, including monitoring and follow-up for action items.
  • Manage external correspondence and ensure that requests made to the Operations team are reported and responded to in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a full list of the Alliance’s partners, including contact information from the most appropriate point of contact(s).
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the Operations team, acting as the primary administrative point of contact for internal Alliance staff and as an operational liaison with partner organizations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the provision of support services to working groups with Alliance partners.
  • Provide administrative support to Directors in the Operations & Security division.
  • Perform cross-functional and/​or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.


  • Knowledge normally associated with a degree in computer science, engineering, information sciences (to only name a few) at the undergraduate level, with significant relevant IT or operations coordination experience is required.
  • Significant past professional experience coordinating in the academic or scientific research environment is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Alliance partners, staff and stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge/​experience with Microsoft products.
  • Very strong writing, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Pro-active and able to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Projects a professional demeanor while providing superior customer services.
  • Punctual and reports problems promptly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Experience coordinating the delivery of training courses or presentations to large groups in an academic environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication capabilities, a commitment to customer service, and excellent presentation skills. 
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in both of Canada’s two official languages is an asset.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. 
  • Other relevant professional certifications are an asset.
