Prior to assuming his role with NDRIO, George Ross ran his own consulting and advisory services business with clients from multi-national corporations, the not-for-profit sector and governments. He has an extensive and varied public service career spanning more than 32 years in the Ontario and Yukon Territorial Governments. Mr. Ross is a former Deputy Minister in the Ontario Public Service, first with the Ministry of Research and Innovation, then the Ministry of Consumer Services and finally with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. After his career in the Ontario Public Service, he was appointed the Yukon Government’s Deputy Minister of Energy Mines and Resources.
Mr. Ross, an experienced Board Director, is currently Chair of the Board of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CCMHO). He has served as President of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) and on the Board of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLG). He is also past Chair of the Ontario Capital Growth Corporation (OCGC). Mr. Ross has received three separate recognition awards from the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, as well as the 2012 Public Service Award from Life Sciences Ontario.
Mr. Ross holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and is a certified Board Director with the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
